Overview
This bill requires data center owners and operators in New Jersey to submit reports to the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) twice a year, detailing their water and energy usage. These reports must be provided within six to three months of the bill’s enactment, depending on the data center’s operational history. The BPU will then publish this information on its website, while performance data will be kept confidential. The bill also allows the BPU to make this reporting requirement permanent through regulations and includes provisions for notifying the BPU of significant operational changes.
