Bill overview
This bill will exempt disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients from paying municipal parking meter fees. Vehicles displaying the veteran’s or recipient’s special license plates or placard issued by the Motor Vehicle Commission will qualify for this exemption. The exemption applies when the veteran or recipient is driving or a passenger in the vehicle, but not when the vehicle is parked for more than 24 hours in a single location. This legislation amends existing law to clarify and expand this existing benefit.
