Overview
This bill protects New Jersey employees who are registered medical cannabis patients from being unfairly treated at work. It prohibits employers from taking adverse employment actions, such as refusing to hire or firing someone, based solely on their medical cannabis status or a positive drug test unless they can prove the cannabis use impaired job performance. The bill also provides a process for patients to explain positive drug tests with medical documentation.
