Overview
This bill allows retired non-instructional staff members of New Jersey public schools, who are enrolled in the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS), to return to work for up to two years without having to re-enroll in the PERS. This opportunity is available if employment begins during the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years and is for a position of critical need as determined by the State Commissioner of Education. The bill includes provisions to ensure the reemployment is genuine and doesn't predate retirement, and limits the total reemployment period to two years.
