Overview
This bill aims to allow students participating in school-to-apprenticeship programs in New Jersey to receive credit towards their classroom training requirements within registered apprenticeships. It requires participating consortium partners to get approval from the U.S. Department of Labor before establishing agreements that recognize secondary classroom experience as fulfilling part of the apprenticeship’s classroom component. This change would expand the opportunities for students to gain valuable skills and training through apprenticeship programs. The bill also extends this requirement to existing apprenticeship programs, subject to any applicable state or federal laws.
