Bill overview
This bill aims to broaden access to veteran hiring preferences within New Jersey’s state civil service. It allows individuals who qualify for federal veteran preference based on disability or service, but don’t currently meet New Jersey’s criteria, to receive additional points on competitive exams. These points would help them score higher and be more competitive for state jobs. The bill also requires a potential constitutional amendment to extend this benefit to disabled veterans who did not serve during a time of war.
