Overview
This bill requires a construction permit for any work involving asbestos on single-family homes, duplexes, or townhouses in New Jersey. Currently, some asbestos work may not require a permit, but this legislation aims to standardize and increase oversight. The permit is in addition to any other required permits. There is an exception for small projects – less than 1,000 square feet of asbestos-containing material – that do not require a permit.
