Overview
This bill allows New Jersey municipalities to use footage from school bus video cameras to ticket drivers who illegally pass the bus while children are loading or unloading. A law enforcement official will review the footage and issue a summons within 90 days if a violation is deemed to have occurred. The bill also establishes a process for purging video footage after 60 days of a fine being collected, and outlines liability for vehicle owners in these instances. It supplements existing legislation regarding school bus safety.
