Overview
This bill establishes the Transportation Authority of New Jersey (Authority) and transfers certain powers, duties, and oversight of transportation entities and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) to the Authority. It consolidates the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, New Jersey Transit Corporation, and New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority under the Authority’s control. The bill also creates a leadership committee within the Authority to manage the consolidated transportation entities and establishes a process for selecting an independent consultant to assist with the transition.
