Overview
This bill allows municipal governing bodies in New Jersey to notify rental property insurance companies if they observe activity at a rental property that appears to violate the terms of the insurance policy. The activity must be reasonably observable without needing to enter the property, and examples include excessive noise, overcrowding, illegal drug use, and property damage. The bill also requires municipalities to designate an official to handle these notifications and to request a copy of the rental property’s insurance policy from the owner.
