Overview
This bill increases the amount of the New Jersey Earned Income Tax Credit (NJEITC) and expands eligibility for the program. Specifically, it raises the percentage of the federal earned income tax credit that New Jersey taxpayers can claim from 40% to 45% over a five-year period. The bill also allows taxpayers with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to qualify for the NJEITC and provides an exception to the joint filing requirement for married taxpayers who are victims of domestic abuse.
