Overview
This bill requires health insurers in New Jersey to cover certain imaging related to breast cancer detection. Specifically, it mandates coverage for a baseline mammogram for women aged 18 and over, as well as annual mammograms for women aged 18 and older, and additional imaging like ultrasounds, MRIs, or 3D mammography if a baseline or risk assessment shows dense breast tissue or other concerning factors. The bill also addresses coverage for ‘high risk assessments’ involving both a mammogram and MRI. It expands coverage requirements for individual and small employer health plans and health maintenance organizations.
