Overview
This bill changes the rules for how New Jersey procures large-scale energy storage systems through the state’s incentive program. It extends the deadline for the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to approve incentive awards for these projects, originally set for June 30, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Furthermore, the bill broadens the types of projects that can qualify for incentives under Tranche 2 of the program. These changes are intended to encourage more energy storage development in the state.
