Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to conduct regular assessments of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water. Specifically, the DEP must evaluate whether to establish maximum contaminant levels for unregulated PFASs and assess whether current standards adequately protect children due to their different physiology. The assessments’ findings will be reported to the Governor and the Legislature, and made publicly available online.
