Overview
This bill updates the process for assessing and regulating nursing homes in New Jersey. It requires the Department of Health to establish minimum standards for nursing homes based on resident health, mental well-being, and operational metrics. If a nursing home receives a poor rating from CMS or fails to meet these standards, the Department of Human Services can impose escalating sanctions, including limiting admissions, reducing payments, or even prohibiting participation in Medicaid. The bill also mandates annual reviews of these standards and requires nursing homes receiving a one-star rating to submit improvement plans and undergo regular monitoring.
