Overview
This bill requires the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) to accept certain documents, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, social security cards, divorce decrees, and court orders, as proof of a name change when updating a driver’s license. It also extends the timeframe for notifying the MVC of a name change from two weeks to six months after the change or the next license renewal.
