Overview
This bill allows the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) to work with international organizations, specifically the World Health Organization’s Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, to better detect and respond to infectious disease outbreaks. It authorizes the DOH to engage in communication and information sharing activities related to this network. Importantly, the bill clarifies that New Jersey will not gain membership in the World Health Organization and that it doesn’t require spending money beyond existing budgets. The DOH will report its efforts and progress to the Governor and the Legislature.
