Overview
This bill increases the tax rate on certain tobacco and nicotine products in New Jersey. Specifically, it raises the wholesale tax rate to 50% of the wholesale price for tobacco products and moist snuff, and sets a tax rate of $1.50 per ounce for moist snuff. The bill also amends definitions related to these products, including adding ‘oral nicotine pouches’ to the list of taxable tobacco products. It requires distributors and wholesalers to report inventory and pay the increased tax rates.
