Overview
This bill requires new residential substance use disorder treatment facilities in New Jersey to reserve at least 40% of their beds for individuals covered by NJ FamilyCare (the state’s Medicaid program). Existing facilities will also be required to meet this same standard when renewing their licenses. The Department of Health will not issue or renew licenses for facilities that fail to meet these requirements, ensuring access to treatment for low-income individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
