Overview
This bill seeks to prohibit housing discrimination in New Jersey based on the source of a person’s lawful income. It amends existing state law to explicitly include ‘source of lawful income’ as a protected characteristic, alongside race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, gender identity or expression, affectional or sexual orientation, marital status, liability for service in the Armed Forces, disability, nationality, and familial status. The bill aims to ensure equal access to housing regardless of how income is obtained, including public assistance or rental assistance programs.
