Overview
This bill authorizes the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to create and issue Juneteenth commemorative license plates. Applicants will pay a $50 application fee and $10 annually for renewal, with funds collected deposited into a special ‘Juneteenth License Plate Fund.’ This fund will be used to support the New Jersey Historical Commission’s efforts to commemorate and celebrate Juneteenth. The bill also specifies that no public funds will be used for the initial costs of establishing the program, and requires a certain number of applications to be received before the plates can be issued.
