Bill overview
This bill revises the process for licensing educational personnel in Nevada. It allows the Superintendent of Public Instruction to place an administrative hold on a teacher’s license without a hearing if they’ve been arrested or charged with certain crimes or suspended for misconduct that could lead to license revocation. The bill also strengthens protections against sexual impropriety and grooming involving pupils, adding these as grounds for disciplinary action and administrative holds. Finally, it removes the ability for the Superintendent to issue provisional licenses pending criminal history reports.
