Bill overview
This bill revises how costs for forensic medical examinations are paid in Nevada. It clarifies that counties are responsible for covering these costs for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence battery by strangulation. The bill establishes a process for a compensation officer to reimburse medical providers and sets a maximum annual reimbursement rate determined by the Department of Health and Human Services. If the Fund for Victims of Crime doesn’t have sufficient funds, the county responsible for the crime will cover the remaining costs.
