Bill overview
This bill amends Nevada law to strengthen the criminal penalties for deaths resulting from the sale, giving, trading, or otherwise making available of controlled substances. Specifically, it increases the charge to murder in the first degree if the death is caused by fentanyl, a derivative of fentanyl, or a mixture containing these substances. It also defines ‘proximate cause’ for these offenses and clarifies the circumstances under which murder can be classified as first or second degree.
