Bill overview
This bill increases the minimum liability insurance requirements for motor carriers operating in Nevada. It mandates that the Nevada Transportation Authority and the Department of Motor Vehicles require certain carriers, including fully regulated freight carriers and other common and contract motor carriers with vehicles over 26,000 pounds, to maintain insurance policies or surety bonds in amounts escalating to $1,500,000 by January 1, 2030. The bill also establishes a tiered system for vehicles with lower gross vehicle weight ratings.
