Bill overview
This bill prohibits common-interest community associations, landlords, and unit owners from imposing restrictions on the display of religious or cultural items within a unit. It defines ‘display of religious or cultural items’ as items displayed because of sincerely held beliefs and practices, with exceptions for items exceeding certain sizes, those immediately adjacent to entryways, or those posing a safety hazard. The bill also provides for reasonable restrictions on placement and manner of display and outlines procedures for temporarily removing items during maintenance work. It extends similar protections to landlords and rental agreements.
