Bill overview
This bill modifies Nevada’s collective bargaining laws to allow certain state employees, specifically category I, II, and III peace officers, firefighters, and their supervisory staff, to negotiate with the state government for alternative health insurance options outside of the Public Employees’ Benefits Program. Currently, such negotiations are prohibited. This bill would exempt these groups from the usual approval process by the Board of the Public Employees’ Benefits Program, allowing them to pursue other insurance plans if they choose to do so.
