Bill overview
This bill changes how Nevada law enforcement handles information about a prisoner's immigration status. It removes a requirement that jails and detention facilities inform federal immigration authorities about prisoners charged with certain offenses that involve unlawful presence or lack of documentation. Instead, the facility must provide the prisoner's name and the offense to immigration officials if those conditions apply. Furthermore, the bill removes a requirement from the Attorney General’s model policies regarding limits on engagement with federal immigration authorities.
