Bill overview
This bill revises Nevada’s laws regarding driving under the influence (DUI) and certain other prohibited substance offenses. It increases the minimum jail sentence for a second DUI offense within seven years to 20 days and lowers the alcohol concentration threshold to 0.16 grams per 100 milliliters of blood or 0.16 liters of breath for evaluation for substance use disorder. The bill also modifies rules regarding treatment programs for offenders, removing restrictions on third-time offenders applying for treatment and clarifying how prior offenses are defined for sentencing purposes.
