Bill overview
This bill makes changes to Nevada’s education laws. It requires the Director of the Office for a Safe and Respectful Learning Environment to establish procedures for filing complaints about discrimination and bullying in schools and to post these procedures online. The bill also updates the State Board of Education’s policy on parental involvement, requiring it to include support for students with disabilities, economically disadvantaged students, and historically underserved communities. Finally, it modifies the plan required for schools to progressively discipline students, including a system for rating offenses and taking intervening action to prevent further issues.
