Bill overview
This bill makes revisions to how health information is handled electronically in Nevada. It prohibits health information exchanges from charging fees for providing electronic health records to patients or entities. It also requires health care providers, especially high-level providers like doctors and nurses, to furnish electronic health records to patients upon request and prohibits them from charging fees for doing so. The bill also establishes a program to increase awareness of independent emergency medical care centers and requires certain facilities, including hospitals, to be licensed as independent centers for emergency medical care. Finally, it addresses Medicaid payments for these centers and reviews sealed records for suitability in providing Medicaid services.
