Bill overview
This bill revises the rules for deputy marshals in Nevada courts, specifically in counties with populations of 700,000 or more (currently Clark County). It requires district court judges and justice of the peace judges to appoint deputy marshals instead of bailiffs, but mandates that they first consider available county employees. The bill also establishes that after appointment, deputy marshals are considered county employees, subject to standard county employee rules, except that their service is at the pleasure of the appointing judicial officer and they cannot be reappointed to the same court after their term ends. Finally, it clarifies that deputy marshals remain county employees even if reassigned.
