Bill overview
This bill updates how Nevada’s Department of Education handles student data. It requires the department to transfer student data to an archive one year after a student graduates or leaves public school, with personally identifiable information redacted except for the student’s birthdate. After 10 years, the department must destroy this archived data when the student reaches age 22. The bill also clarifies that these data transfer rules do not apply to data already held by the Department.
