Bill overview
Senate Bill 447 modifies Nevada’s rules for public works contracts. It allows individuals to sue a public body in district court and request an ‘alternate writ of mandamus’ if the public body attempts to award a contract that doesn’t relate to their normal operations, even if it follows standard procurement procedures. If a court rules in favor of the plaintiff, it can order the public body to award the contract and may also award attorney’s fees and court costs.
