Bill overview
This bill extends a property tax currently used to fund the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Specifically, it continues the imposition of a 20-cent-per-$100 assessed valuation rate, which was approved by voters in 1996, for an additional period beginning July 1, 2027, and ending June 30, 2057. The bill also ensures that this continued property tax rate is applied to the unincorporated areas of Clark County and the City of Las Vegas in the same manner as existing rates. Additionally, the bill makes a conforming change to ensure the property tax rate is not exempt from a partial abatement of property taxes, as established by existing law.
