This bill allows South Dakotans to verify their organ donation status online. The Department of Public Safety will establish or contract for a donor registry that will be accessible 24/7. Individuals can register, amend, or revoke their donation status through the registry, and organ procurement organizations can access this information to determine a donor’s wishes near the time of death. The registry will also be used to evaluate organ donation efforts within the state.
