Bill overview
The Gracie Act of 2026 aims to help states improve their recording practices during child welfare interviews. It provides grants to state agencies to record and retain all child welfare interviews conducted by those agencies for at least five years. States receiving these grants must establish policies requiring interviews to be recorded electronically or through other reasonable means, and ensure recordings are securely stored and accessible only to authorized parties for investigations or legal proceedings. The act also establishes accountability measures for states receiving the funding.
