Overview
This bill proposes two constitutional amendments. The first would require candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives to be legal residents of South Carolina for at least ten years and legal residents of their district for at least two years before filing for office. The second would require candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, Superintendent of Education, Comptroller General, and Commissioner of Agriculture to be legal residents of South Carolina for at least ten years immediately preceding the election. Both amendments would be put to a vote of the state’s qualified electors.
