Overview
This bill creates a statewide program to test South Carolina firefighters for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and provide them with occupational health and cancer screenings, all at no cost. The Department of Public Health, in collaboration with the State Fire Marshal, will establish and administer this program, contracting with qualified medical providers to conduct testing and screenings. Fire departments are not responsible for procuring these services, and test results are protected as confidential medical records.
