Bill overview
This bill would eliminate fees that West Virginia teachers currently have to pay to obtain or renew their teaching licenses, certifications, and to register continuing education credits. The West Virginia State Department of Education would be required to create rules for reimbursing teachers for these fees, prioritizing shortages areas and ensuring reimbursement doesn’t exceed the cost of courses at state institutions. Funding for this initiative would come from sources other than general revenue.
