Bill overview
This bill changes the process for obtaining titles for abandoned or junked motor vehicles found on the property of automobile dealers, licensed auctions, repair facilities, and towing companies in West Virginia. Currently, the vehicle’s loan value had to be below $9,500 to qualify for a title. This bill removes that restriction, allowing these businesses to obtain a title and registration for vehicles even if the loan value is higher, provided certain conditions are met, such as the vehicle being abandoned and the owner or lienholders not claiming it after proper notification.
