Bill overview
This bill requires the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to establish an "Orange Alert" system. When a prisoner escapes or is released from a correctional facility or jail, this system will notify any victim residents within a 40-mile radius. The department will also be responsible for posting information about how to register for these alerts in newspapers of record and developing statewide policies for the system.
