Bill overview
This bill removes a previous limit on how many times a person can petition to have certain criminal convictions expunged in West Virginia. Specifically, it removes the requirement that a person can only petition once for expungement. The bill expands eligibility for expungement to include nonviolent felonies and clarifies the conditions under which misdemeanors can be expunged. It also removes certain offenses, such as specific felony crimes of violence and certain drug-related offenses, from the list of convictions that cannot be expunged.
