Bill overview
This bill modifies West Virginia’s public employee retirement system to address what happens when a retiree’s spouse dies before the retiree. Specifically, if a spouse beneficiary passes away before the retiree, the retiree will continue to receive their annuity at the same level as if they hadn't nominated a spouse beneficiary. The bill also allows for adjustments to annuity amounts upon remarriage or divorce to maintain actuarial equivalence.
