Bill overview
This bill seeks to grant collective bargaining rights to employees of the Massachusetts legislature, including staff and other non-elected officials. Currently, these employees do not have the ability to negotiate terms and conditions of employment through unions. The legislation would establish a framework for these employees to collectively bargain with their employer, the legislature, regarding wages, benefits, and working conditions. Supporters argue this will improve employee morale and working conditions, while opponents may raise concerns about the potential impact on legislative efficiency.
