Bill overview
This bill aimed to increase the legal responsibility of law enforcement officers and other officials who allow an intoxicated person arrested for driving under the influence to operate a motor vehicle after their arrest. It sought to hold these officials accountable for contributing to the risk of harm to others. The bill was ultimately unsuccessful and failed to pass the Massachusetts legislature. It was referred to the Judiciary committee and then accompanied a study order.
