Bill overview
This bill allows Massachusetts cities and towns to decide whether or not to allow residents to serve as associate members of their planning boards. Currently, the ability for towns to have associate members is determined by the state, and this bill would give local governments the option to create or maintain this system. Associate members would assist planning board members with tasks and research, but would not have voting authority. The bill is seeking to provide local control over this planning board structure.
