Bill overview
This bill directs the Health Policy Commission’s Office of Health Resource Planning to study the availability and distribution of pharmacies and pharmaceutical services across Massachusetts. The goal is to identify areas, often rural or underserved, where access to pharmacies is limited – known as ‘pharmacy deserts.’ The assessment will examine the supply, distribution, and capacity of pharmacies to inform potential strategies for improving medication access for all residents. Ultimately, this research aims to support efforts to address disparities in healthcare access.
