Bill overview
This joint resolution urges the federal government to maintain the existing moratorium on testing explosive nuclear weapons. Nevada has a long history with nuclear testing at the Nevada National Security Site, and residents have experienced significant health and economic impacts from past testing. Recent proposals to resume testing pose risks to public health, Nevada’s economy, and the environment, despite the fact that no other countries are currently testing and the U.S. already possesses extensive data on nuclear weapons.
