Overview
An act to increase the number of employers who are required to participate IN the federal e-verify program, require state and local government employers to comply with article 2 of chapter 64 of the general statutes, create a good-faith safe harbor for employers who unknowingly receive fraudulent documentation related to e-verify, allow the commissioner of labor to conduct random and risk-based compliance checks related to e-verify, allow employers to cure first violations of e-verify requirements, increase the CIVIL penalties for employers who fail to comply with e-verify requirements, protect employees from retaliation for good-faith reports of suspected violations of e-verify requirements, and appropriate funds to the department of labor for the enforcement of this act.
